What is REACh?

Reform of EU chemical legislation through EC Regulation 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals

Regulation EU 1907/2006 (abbreviated: REACh) represents a reform of the chemical laws within the EU economic zone. The REACh Regulation came into force on 01.06.2007 and is directly applicable, i.e. it does not require translation into national law. REACh stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of chemicals.

Although REACh falls under “Chemical Legislation” we would like to point out that the term “chemical” as referred to in REACh is much more comprehensive than generally assumed when the term “chemical” is used.
